"A Unified Object Modeling Approach" is based on six fundamental questions which need to be answered about any software system under development. Detailed guidance is provided on using the Booch, Rumbaugh, and Jacobson methods to answer these questions.

Much of the learning on this dual CD-ROM set is by example. Four complete examples are provided, from different industry segments including banking, health care, telecommunications, and transportation, which fully illustrate the concepts presented in the tutorial.

The tutorial makes extensive use of hyper-links to provide immediate access into any desired part of the presentation. Examples are context-sensitive: for example, when learning about object interaction diagrams, clicking on any of the example buttons takes you to the narrated tutorial of only the interaction diagram portion of the selected example.

Prototyping is emphasized as a requirements definition technique, with detailed guidance provided on how to extract Use Case Models and Domain Object Models from a prototype.

Prototypes are used to help define the user requirements...

Use case models are extracted from the prototype, as are Domain models. These models are then carried forward into detailed static and dynamic OOD, all the way through code generation in C++.

An iterative approach is taken to covering the lifecycle, with thorough explanations given of how to transition between different phases of the development process, and to traceability across the lifecycle.

Available now for both PC and Macintosh, "A Unified Object Modeling Approach" brings you state-of-the-art training in the latest object-oriented methods in a convenient and cost-effective multimedia format which is always available when you need it, for a fraction of the cost of on-site training.

Note: We are in the process of updating Unified Object Modeling Approach, Vol 1&2. Look for it this summer, or contact Jon Graff at sales@iconixsw.com for more information.
